12x24 Tile for kitchen and dining room in Quincy
This job was in Quincy. We had to rip up two layers of vinyl and also the hardwood and plywood underneath it to level the whole room for tiling. This floor was very uneven because the kitchen was involved in a fire at one point and new plywood was unevenly installed.
Leveler was poured onto the whole kitchen to level it out since it was uneven. If the floor is not even and flat the large tiles could crack or pop back out after installation. This would create future headache for this family. The kitchen was now leveled.

As you can see the kitchen has plywood underneath instead of wood planks like the adjacent dining room. Its sub-floor needed to be replaced after the fire broke out.
This family wanted brick style design lay-out with 12x24 tiles. They also wanted an inlay mosaic piece at the end of every three tiles. The mosaic inlay piece was not one solid piece but separate smaller pieces put together. It was very flimsy and careful installation of it was required. Two different size spacers were used. ¼ inch spacer was placed for the Vertical grout line and 3/16 inch for the horizontal grout line. This is a very special custom job.

The tiles were grouted, cleaned and three days later were sealed. This picture was taken at night with low light or else the newly installed tile floor would look very bright with the sun shining in. This family was very happy with their new floor.
